Privacy policy

Your data stays on your device.

This document applies to Pétanque Manager and Pétanque Club. It describes exactly what the apps store, what they publish, and what they never transmit.

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This translation is provided for information only: in the event of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.

The principle: offline by default

Pétanque Manager and Pétanque Club work without a connection. Tournaments, teams, players, scores, statistics and club finances are stored in a local database, on your phone or tablet. We have no access to it.

There is no user account. The identity of the app's owner — surname, first name, licence number — is used solely to personalise the home screen and the statistics, and it too stays on the device.

Uninstalling the app deletes this data. It is not backed up on our servers and we cannot restore it. Use the export function to keep a copy.

What the app publishes, and only at your request

A few features transmit information to our servers. Each one is triggered by an explicit action on your part.

Live tracking

When you switch on this feature, the list of participants (number and name), the matches, the scores, the courts and the ranking are sent to our servers and displayed on a public web page.

The players' names appear on it. Tell the participants, particularly if they are minors.

Listings

Publishing a listing transmits its text, the photos you choose, and the name and telephone number given as the contact. This information is public: that is its purpose.

A technical author identifier is attached to the listing so that you can edit or delete it. It is not displayed.

Assignment tracking

Proof of completion sent to the coach is linked to the licence number of the player concerned.

This data is not public: it is visible to the group's coach.

The club licence and posters

Activating a club code, or requesting a generated poster, sends our servers an identifier drawn at random when the app was installed. It is used only to link the code to this phone and to count the club's posters. It says nothing about you and is shared with no one.

Tournament corrections

Proposing a correction to a tournament in the calendar, or sharing a tournament, sends our servers the entry concerned, your comment, your email address and, if they appear in your profile, your name and licence number. They are used to reply to you — one email on receipt, another on the decision — and to contact you if the proposal needs clarification. A hash of your IP address, from which the address cannot be recovered, is kept with the proposal in order to cap abusive submissions. None of this is published: only the corrected entry joins the calendar.

Sharing on social networks

Result cards — podium, match, a player's record, live tournament — are images produced on your device. When you share one, the image and its caption are handed to the app you choose: Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messages or another. Nothing goes through our servers or through Meta: the app you chose does the publishing, under your account and by its own rules.

A card may show players' names. Ask for their consent before posting it, and for the parents' consent if a minor is involved.

Suggestions for the club directory

From a club's entry, you can suggest a correction — the club's town, ground, phone, e-mail or website — or a club missing from the directory. The suggestion and an optional comment are sent to our servers. No person's name or mobile number is asked for: a number starting with 06 or 07 is refused.

For the location of a ground, you can take your current location. It is read only at your initiative, when you tap “Get my location”, and only to suggest that ground; the app does not keep it.

A suggestion is not linked to any identity: there is no account and no name. A fingerprint of your device identifier and of your IP address, from which neither can be recovered, is kept with it to limit abusive submissions. It waits in the moderation queue; once accepted, the location becomes that of the ground in the public directory, with nothing showing who suggested it.

Retention periods

  • Live tracking: a tournament's data is deleted from the server 24 hours after the last update. After that, the public page no longer exists.
  • Listings: a listing expires according to its type — 30 days for a sale of equipment, 3 months for a partner search or a service, 6 months for an event, or the day before the event if that comes sooner. A reminder is sent 3 days beforehand. A listing declared permanent does not expire.
  • Permanent erasure: a listing that has expired, been sold or been withdrawn immediately ceases to be displayed, then its record and photos are deleted from the server after 30 days. That period gives you time to renew it if you change your mind. After that, nothing remains of it and we cannot restore it.
  • The only exception: a listing suspended by moderation is kept, because its record carries the reports received. Erasing it would remove the trace of the abuse along with the abuse itself.
  • Proof of assignments: a coaching session lasts 7 days at most. Thirty days after it expires, the session, its assignments and all the proof attached to it are deleted from the server — that is, 37 days at most.
  • Tournament corrections: a proposal, together with its author's email, name and licence, is deleted from the server 90 days after the decision, whether it was accepted or refused.
  • Directory suggestions: a suggestion stays in the server's moderation queue; once accepted, only the suggested value — for example a ground's location — joins the public directory, without its author.

What the app consults without transmitting anything

The app asks for permissions whose results it uses only locally. Refusing them does not stop it from working: only the feature concerned becomes unavailable.

Permission What it is used for Transmitted?
Contacts Importing players into your local database No. But an imported name may be published if you switch on live tracking for a tournament in which that player appears.
Calendar Adding tournament dates to your calendar No
Camera Measuring the boule-to-jack distance, reading handwritten scores No: the images are analysed on the device and are not stored
Photo library Choosing an image Only if you attach it to a listing
Photo library, add only Save a result card to your photos No
SMS Pre-filling a call-up message No: it is your phone's messaging app that sends it. We see neither the number nor the content.

What we do not do

No advertising tracker, no ad network, no audience measurement or usage statistics tool is built into these apps. We build no profile, resell no data, and do not track your activity across apps or websites. You will not be asked for any advertising tracking permission: we have no use for it.

The third parties involved

  • OVH hosts our servers, in France.
  • Apple and Google process payments. We receive neither your card number nor your address.
  • RevenueCat (Pétanque Manager only) validates Academy purchases and keeps the purchase history under an anonymous identifier, not linked to your name.
  • Shorebird (Pétanque Manager only) distributes patches. It receives the app identifier and the installed version number, with no personal data.
  • YouTube and the YouTube API Services feed the Pétanque Manager video library. The distinction matters: your device never queries YouTube to build the list. It is our server that collects the titles, durations and thumbnails, once a day, and sends you the catalogue. As long as you are browsing the list, Google does not know you exist. However, as soon as you start playback, the video is played by the platform's player: Google then receives your IP address and may set cookies, as if you were opening YouTube. By using the video library, you accept the YouTube Terms of Service; how Google processes your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Dailymotion and Facebook host a small share of the videos in the video library. The same rule applies: nothing is transmitted to them until you start playback, and at that point it is their player that is displayed, with their cookies and their terms.
  • Google Fonts is no longer called at start-up: the interface font is now bundled with the app, which reads it from your device with no network call. One exception remains, in Pétanque Manager's Poster Designer: choosing a font that is not bundled causes it to be fetched from Google at that moment, which transmits your IP address to that service. No other feature does so.

Federation data

The app downloads the directory of FFPJP licensees and the calendar of official tournaments so that you can put your teams together offline. These files come from the federation's sources, are encrypted in transit, then kept on your device and refreshed after fifteen days. We transmit nothing in return.

The petanquemanager.fr website

  • Two technical cookies: “lang”, which remembers for one year the language you have chosen, and “pm-theme”, which remembers for one year the light or dark theme if you change it — the latter is also kept in your browser's local storage. They do not identify you and require no consent. No advertising cookie, no audience measurement.
  • The contact form: your name, email address and message are sent to us by email, so that we can reply to you. They are not stored in any database of the site.

Your rights

You may request access to, rectification or erasure of the data we hold, object to its processing, or request its portability. As there is no user account, such a request in practice concerns a published listing, an online tournament tracking page, proof of assignments or a proposed correction.

Write to contact@petanquemanager.fr, specifying what your request concerns. Reply within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

Reporting content

Listings are written by users. Each listing has a report button in the app. Reporting records a hash of your IP address against the listing concerned — a computed value from which the address cannot be recovered — so that the same visitor cannot report the same listing twice. You can also write to contact@petanquemanager.fr. Content that is unlawful or in breach of the rules is removed, and its author may be blocked.

Children

These apps are not aimed at children and do not knowingly collect data about them. A club that publishes live tracking of a youth tournament publishes the young players' names: it is the club's responsibility to obtain the consent of their legal representatives.

Who is responsible

These apps are published by Wilfrid Perruquetti. Any question about your data may be sent via the contact page or to contact@petanquemanager.fr.

Any change to this policy will be published at this address, with its date.
